Both medical pratictioners head up the Medical Care Center for Interdisciplinary Pain Therapy - Orthopaedics - Accident Surgery - Anaesthesia -Pain Center in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. 
The Center acts as a base. Both doctors organise regular training events on the subject of pain and are organisers of an annual pain congress of national and European significance.


The organisers Dr. med. Johanna Michel and Dr. med. Hermann Schmidt see the healing arts in the tradition of the holistic perception of mankind and its sensory translation into music and other visual forms of art. 

Through artistic projects under the name Valle Venia and regular internationally and scientifically recognised events, they promote thesocio-political perception of the need to understand pain as an interdisciplinary and psychosocial phenomenon.
